Yesterday I showed my mum some of the animated emotes I've made over the past few months - it turns out that all this time she thought I'd been making odd static faces out of big squares (having only ever seen me laboriously working on zoomed-in emotes) which she'd secretly thought was, and I quote, 'a bit naff'. Anyway, while she called me a huge geek, she was also quite impressed and asked if I'd be able to make a knitting emote. So I did.
I wanted something more than a simple 2-frame animation for the movement of the hands and needles, so I added a bit of detail with the yarn growing taut and then being pulled to give more slack again and make a nice little loop. ouo I even made the ball of yarn spin when he tugs it. Working on the little details of animation is so much fun.
I guess he runs out of yarn a bit quick (after four stitches... ) but if you don't look too closely I don't think it matters. He also knits forever and ever, but never does his ball of yarn grow smaller, or his knitting grow bigger. Magic.
Hope you like it! Also, ever noticed that I almost exclusively refer to emotes as 'he's? Odd. o_o
Frames: 31 Time: 2-3 hours (I'm slow.. >>;)
Edit: Increased contrast of features as recommended by ^stuck-in-suburbia.
I am very impressed with the details you captured here. As a crafter, and one who has attempted knitting, the way the yarn grows taut is perfect. The gap is the fabric, pure win. I have considered doing a crochet emote for ages now, but I feared I would fail on the tinier points. You have done amazing with this and it is just epic.
Oh, thank you so much for your feedback! I really did want to capture as much detail as I could, so I'm really pleased. Thank you! c: You should totally try a crochet emote, I'd love to see it!
