Hehe! Firstly I need to say that I got the black and white idea from 'djibouti4' - I feel that needs mentioning, since he pretty much inspired this painting! I've never tried painting in just black and white before! In fact I think this painting should be dedicated it to him...! This is one awesome guy - super kind, super supportive and super talented! Please go check out his work, I guarantee it's worth your time and effort, and if you do, say Anna sent 'ya!
So, I guess you can sort of see I have just a little obsession with tree frogs... they're sooooo cute! And actually ideal for painting, as they don't have too much horribly difficult detail going on, like feathers and fur and the like.. But mostly because they're cute!
It was a full body painting, but I didn't like the body very much, it was kind of badly done (Rushed, I'll admit it) and he was sitting REALLY awkwardly so I really couldn't get it right.
For what it's worth I think I like it better cropped like this! I think it suits the title better..
I'm going to retreat to my room and carry on reading 'Ninteen Eighty Four' now.....
For the longest time I thought this was a post-processed photo - until I now clicked on the thumbnail to find out that it's actually a drawing! Loverly!
I can't believe I only just saw this! The painting is incredible as always, I love the dotty effect on the eyes and skin (that must have been so difficult with watercolour). And I must thank you unreservedly for being so supportive of me, it's helped immensely and I cannot even articulate what it means to me.
^.^ I'm really glad you like it! Yeah, it took a very long time ... I ended up spending an hour or so on the eyes alone! Being in colour though I suppose they required a little more thought and attention to detail. I'm glad I didn't make my usual mistake and go a little overboard with the base colour and accidentally fill in the shine sections meant to remain white... I do that so often!! You're welcome as always, my friend!
Wow! It definitely paid off, though. And I understand what you mean, it's such a temptation just to ill it in. May I recommend masking fluid? And once again, I'm ever so thankful!
Ooh, yes! I've heard of this stuff, I'm not sure where to get it though... or how to use it, for that matter. How does it work? Heheh, you're welcome my friend Have a good evening
I stole mine from an art teacher (or long-term borrowing as it's also known). You paint it onto the areas you want to keep white and then if you put watercolours on top of it, it forms into a latex which can be peeled away to reveal white underneath. Otherwise known as GENIUS in a bottle!
Wow! How have I not used this before...?! Sounds very handy indeed, I may have to invest in some. This calls for a trip to Hobbycraft, methinks! Hahaa, that's okay, I 'long-term borrowed' two bottles of acrylic paint from school last year... it's actually pretty expensive. Whoops
You're too kind, thanks so much!!
Heheh, you're welcome my friend
