I'm not gonna lie. I'm really really proud of this one. It's the first time in a while that I've been so excited by something I created, so I'm happy!
Inspired by `SanguineEpitaph, =jaichizuru and *keyanadrake, I've been meaning to try book binding for a while now... but I always assumed I'd need to go out and buy lots of materials, such as a proper awl, book binding thread and glue, and fancy paper and fabric for the inside and the covers. However, this little guy cost me nothing to make, as I made it using scraps and leftovers and materials that I have in my home. I also want to try other techniques such as Japanese Stab Binding, which is really pretty! ;u;
If you've ever wanted to do this, I really recommend you try it. It's much easier than it looks and it makes your notebook, sketchbook or diary that much more personal! I'm going to make another one at some point, and see if I can embroider some patterns on the fabric for the covers. I might sell these if I get together enough of them. This particular book has 200 A6 pages.
Time taken:
Approx. 6-7 hours.
Materials:
50 sheets of A4 printer paper. (cut into 100 sheets of A5)
Mount board
An old shirt
The weird ribbon-hanging-thing from inside said old shirt
Wow! My dad is actually a book-binder by trade, and I'm sure he'd be really impressed! Everything looks so neatly done, it's perfect - and I love that you recycled your (tartan ) shirt to make it! 20 hippie points!
That's unbelievably cool!
Hehe.
Thank yooou, as ever!
Are you going to use it as a sketch book? O:
I don't know yet... I'm too scared to make a mark in it!
I can imagine! O: It's so pretty.
